Matthew Williamson’s eponymous line turns fifteen this year! For this Pre-Fall collection, the designer signs a very mature collection, with feminine, elegant, effortless silhouettes, and, of course, what made his success, prints.

La ligne éponyme de Matthew Williamson fête cette année ses quinze ans! Pour cette collection Pre-Fall, le designer, tout en restant fidèle a ce qui a fait son succès, les imprimés, signe une collection extrêmement mature, surtout côté silhouettes. Féminines, élégantes, désinvoltes…The designer confirms the "Pjama Suit", and gives it a new dimension : perfect tailoring and harmonious embroideries and prints. Every fashionista in New York will fight over his cocktails dresses, while the rest of them will rush to buy his new gorgeous accessories.

Le designer confirme la tendance du "Pjama Suit", tout en lui apportant une nouvelle dimension : ses coupes tombes toujours justes, ses imprimés et ses incrustations, toujours harmonieux. Ses robes de soirées seront surement portées par toutes les fashionistas de New York, et ses accessoires, celles du monde entier!

Classic, strict, elegant and feminine silhouettes… but yet with a modern touch, Thakoon Panichgul’s one. Volumes, that gives an amazing architectural aspect to the whole collection, to the layering, to which the designer gives a new dimension.

Des silhouettes classiques, strictes, féminines et élégantes… avec une touche de modernité, tout de même, celle de Thakoon Panichgul. Des volumes, qui donne une formidable aspect architectural à la collection, au layering (superposition), à qui le designer apporte une nouvelle dimension.From the vibrant colors of last season, we only found little splashes : it’s a saturated color palette, perfect for autumn, that gives us for his Pre-Fall collection Anna Wintour’s little protégé. At the end, a very mature and quietly feminine collection.

Des vibrantes couleurs de la saison dernière, on ne retrouve que quelques touches : c’est une palette saturée, parfaite pour l’automne, que nous offre le petit protégé d’Anna Wintour pour sa collection Pre-Fall. Au final, une collection très mature, à la discrète féminité.

Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2012

Runner-up to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, a very well received Resort collection, one of his dresses on Rooney Mara at The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo premiere in New York, an awesome motion editorial of his pre-fall … Prabal Gurung is the new designer to watch! For this collection, the designer was inspired by New Delhi, where he studied at the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

La place de runner-up de la CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund; une collection Resort qui a reçu de trés bonnes critiques; une de ses robes sur Rooney Mara, la nouvelle fille que tout le monde s’arrache, à la première de The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, l’adaptation du célèbre roman, à New York; un editorial vidéo pour sa collection pre-fall qui a fait le tour du web en quelque jours… C’est peu dire que Prabal Gurung est sur la bonne voie pour devenir incontournable! Pour cette collection le designer s’est inspiré de ses années à New Dehli, où il étudiait au National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Far from colored sari’s and majestic elephants’s clichés, it’s the urban vibe, the "smoggy reality" of New Delhi that we found in the metallic reflections of his fabrics. And far from the embroideries of his last collection, everything here is sober, more subtle. As for silhouettes, Gurung stays true to what made his success : elegant tailoring.

Loin des clichés de sari colorés et d’éléphants majestueux, c’est plutôt le côté très urbain de New Delhi que l’on retrouve dans les reflets métalliques de ses tissus. Et loin des grossières (et incroyables!) broderies de ses dernières collections, tout ici est plus sobre, plus subtil. Côté silhouettes, Gurung reste fidèle à ses classiques : des coupes élégantes.

Garry Winogrand, never heard of him? It’s actually normal, street style’s pioneer, long before The Sartorialist and Garance Doré, Winogrand was going all over town, looking for truly unknown muses in Manhattan streets. His work has inspired Claire Waight Keller, in that it represents a simpler time when "There was an innocent charming way of doing fashion, you might see a check miniskirt of the sixties worn with something from the seventies and it wont be reveling of one’s fashion knowledge, just its mood, and it wouldn’t be any less great!"

Garry Winogrand, jamais entendu parler? Normal, précurseur du street-style, bien avant The Sartorialist et Garance Doré, Winogrand parcourait les rues de Manhattan, à la recherche de muses d’un instant, alors réellement inconnues. C’est de son travail que s’est inspiré Claire Waight Keller, ou plutôt de son époque "ou notre approche de la mode était amusante et innoncente. Porter une jupe des 60′s avec un haut des 70′s était accidentel, et ne faisait que révélé l’humeur de celle qui les portait, et pas sa connaissance de l’histoire de la mode sans que cela n’en soit moins beau!"

I totally love this collection, in-between the 60′s and the 80′s! Claire Waight Keller stays true to the winter’s classics, the suit and the white color, whitout forgetting to take risks: a lot of volume and awesome checked fabrics, which is definitely this season’s must-have!

Personellement, je craque totalement pour cette collection, à mi-chemin entre les 60′s et les 80′s! Claire Waight Keller reste quand même fidéle aux classiques de l’hiver, le suit et le blanc immaculé, en prenant quelques risques : beaucoup de volume et de carreaux, définitivement le must have de cette saison!
